Infusing innovation to the usual techniques and classic tattoo styles - is perhaps the most productive way in finding unique own recognizable style.
Eugene Nedelko the tattoo artist from Donetsk, now based in Katowice (Poland), began his journey as a tattoo artist working in the old-school way. However, after some time, he came to the unique approach to tattoos, which was inspired by the linocut.
What is the linocut?
This is one way of engraving, wherein engraving material is the linoleum. It emerged at the turn of XIX-XX, due to the necessity of using engravings printing large posters. Previously used for similar purposes of the saw cut of the tree, the size of which could not be used in large-scale prints. The invention of linoleum solved a lot of problems for the printing workers, since the dimensions of prints were no limited, and the material itself admirably resisted engraving. To transfer the image , the engraving covered a layer of paint, and thus obtained a mark. A similar method is applicable to both black and white and color printing.
Transfer this technique to the tattoo style, allowed Eugene to create an attractive and recognizable handwriting of his work.
This apparent simplicity make charm his tattoos.
He not uses smooth color gradients, transitions, he not uses difficult shadows. In that works the artist designs each color as a separate layer, considering where the colors may or may not overlap.
Special attention is deserve his surreal landscapes. The unique overall mood of the images, as if he presents us the retrospective of landscapes of distant planets!
