CORSAIR TATTOO INK

On Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th July 2019, the Corsair Tattoo Ink returns for a 4th installment! The tattoo convention of Saint-Malo signs its shattering return between the ramparts of the city, on the coast of the Channel …

For the fourth consecutive year, Brittany is preparing to become the scene of a clash of cultures: the imagery of pirates, corsairs and other buccaneers, and that of tattooing. An encounter dreamed long ago by the tattoo artist Kalil Moktar, a lover of his region, and made possible with family and friends.

Saint-Malo, nest of privateers

From the Middle Ages until the 19th century, the Bretons distinguished themselves in the war of race, discipline of officially arming a civilian ship to attack the enemy ships and more particularly the merchant ships. This race shares its etymology with the word corsair, borrowed from the Italian Corsican. Some ports in the region have turned into real nests of corsairs, like Saint-Malo. Having become a powerful city with strong impassable ramparts, it has registered in its own way in the rich history of France thanks to some famous names, like Surcouf and Duguay-Trouin.

A player in the development of maritime trade, Saint-Malo has become a major strategic, commercial and cultural crossroads. It is at the heart of this heritage that Kalil Moktar wanted to register his profession. His ambition? Make the city Malouine a port where the best tattoo artists meet and feast, the time of a weekend.aint-Malo, nest of privateers.
