Today we want to introduce a tattoo artist from Poland, who is better known in Krakow and all around the world under the pseudonym UFO. This tattooer successfully manages to combine features of the East and the West cultures in his works - the heroines of his tattoos, practicing the ancient art of shibari, are drawn in the style of old black and white noir comics.
- Hello, Ufo! Please, tell us a little about yourself. What is your real name? Where are you from, where do you work now?
- Hi everyone! My real name is Marcin Figlewicz (I don't use it often hehe) but everyone knows me as Ufo👽. I am a tattoo artist from Poland, currently working in the Rock'n'Ink tattoo shop in Krakow.
I've been tattooing for 8 or 9 years, my adventure goes through most tattoo styles. But so far my greatest satisfaction is black comics and botanical patterns. I'm a game and horror fanatic.
- How and when did you decide to become a tattoo artist?
- I've always drawn something, I think I'm an artistic soul. I was riding a lot on a skateboard and a lot of my older colleagues had tattoos, it always fascinated me, I had a feeling that I could become a tattoo artist too and it occurred to be success hehe, I owe a lot to my first tattoo teacher.
- How would you describe your style? What features of your work would you highlight?
- As I mentioned before, at the moment I am satisfied with the dark comic style with red elements, these are my two favorite colors. I leave a piece of myself in each project. So that each is unique for me and for my clients, I hope hehe. I also like to make realistic flowers, it is a little escape from everyday blackness (he-he).
- Where do you get the plots for tattoos? What inspires you as an artist?
- Ahhh, what inspires me most is old comics and shibari art. Must be dark. All ideas come from my head (hehe), a lot of weird things are going on there.
- Who are your clients?
- My clients are the best haha! I have been building my client base for many years, I am happy with it and I try to have good contact with every person who has my tattoo or wants to get it done by me. Best regards to all my clients!
- Have you had any experience of working with other tattooers? Is there someone who inspires you?
- I have worked in many studios, I change my workplace every year. I like working with new people. In my life I have met many inspiring people, many tattoo artists who have influenced my work and approach to life. I could write a whole list here. but those who are to be on this list know it.
- Tell us about your experience of participating in conventions and tattoo festivals.
- I participated in many tattoo conventions in Poland, but for some time I stopped coming to them. I prefer to work in my environment, in my position. Do it with pleasure, not for racing, I do not negate it, but I do not like it .
- What advice would you give to yourself if you could go back 5 years?
- What advice would I give myself hmmm, I made a few mistakes in my life, probably if I would go back, I would deal with them so that I would not make them again, but on the other hand, a person learns from these errors and learns lessons from them - those are acquired later in life hmm, tough last question, I think everything is as it should be. Stay real!
