Australian tattoo artist Benjamin Laukis became famous all over the world for his juicy, colorful, realistic tattoos.
For 9 years of his career, he became a prize-winner of many international tattoo conventions and festivals, and also became the idol of millions of real tattoo lovers around the world!
In an interview to The Inked magazine, he admits:
"I actually didn’t ever consider being a tattoo artist, until one day my tattooist and friend, Neil Braithwaite, offered me an apprenticeship, as his old apprentice had left. I thought it over for a day or two, as I had just finished another apprenticeship in sheet metal, but decided tattooing was a career I could enjoy."
His tattoos are not classic works in style of the tattoo realism, as we used to imagine them. Rather, his style is the tattoo represention of a painting.
He very subtly expresses the mood of the picture through the use of shadows and hard light. Contrast and lighting are the key elements of each of his tattoos.
