Nepal Inked Tattoo Festival 2024

Welcome to the 9th International Nepalinked Tattoo Festival 2024
This is detailed information on how we will be celebrating the festival this year. Please go through the information below.

VENUE:

The gathering will take place at the Dhulikhel Mountain Resort in Dhulikhel, Nepal. A picturesque resort called Dhulikhel Mountain Resort is approximately 35 kilometers from Thamel, Kathmandu, and should take an hour to get there (longer during times of heavy traffic). Both tourists and locals enjoy visiting this renowned location because of the breathtaking Himalayan views it provides.

TATTOO & PAINTING SESSION:

The event will be held outdoors with working tents put up at the resort. We will also use the halls if the anticipated space for the working area utilizing tents cannot be obtained. Any area of the resort may be used by the artists for the painting session. The artists will be provided with painting supplies. We advise the participating artists to bring their own painting brushes because our preferences on the brushes might not suit yours.

Note: Painting session only for participating artists

TRANSPORTATION:

Bus service will be provided to and from the event location only for the participating artists.

VISIT TO NAMOBUDDHA MONASTERY:

Namobuddha is a well-known Buddhist pilgrimage place close to Dhulikhel. According to the old legend, 6000 years ago, a prince (Mahasatwo/Ngingdui Tshenpo), at the top of the hill, looking at the jungle, discovers a tigress lying near the rock. Very quickly, he realizes that the tigress was about to die due to hunger with her five little babies still sucking milk from her, survival of the babies depends on their mother. Mahasatwo, decides to give his life to the tigress in a bust of love and compassion. So, Prince Mahasatwo cuts his body to present his warm blood in the mouth of the mother tiger, and the taste of blood gives the appetite to the starving family. As the tigress accepts the sacrifice from the prince she leaves only the bones. The bones of the prince were brought back to the village and buried in the tomb which is the actual stupa of Namo Buddha. Some 3500 years later, the Gautam Buddha came to the village of Sange da Fyafulsa, he conducted 3 tours around the Stupa before he declared that he was the reincarnation of prince Mahasatwo. It was the moment that Gautam Buddha renamed this village which is henceforth the name of Namo Buddha which means Homage to Buddha.

All the participating artists and guests will be taken to this holy site of Namobuddha Monastery for a ceremony.
