The Locked Up Shrewsbury Tattoo Convention will take place over two days, from June 21 to June 22, 2025. Doors open at 10:00 AM each day.

The event is hosted at the historic Shrewsbury Prison, located at The Dana, Shrewsbury SY1 2HP, United Kingdom. The decommissioned prison grounds offer a unique backdrop for the convention.

Event Overview

This is the third ever tattoo convention held at Shrewsbury Prison, featuring over 145 tattoo artists. The convention presents a dynamic and immersive experience where artists will compete in various categories, showcasing their tattoo skills to judges on the main stage. Live tattooing will take place around the prison grounds, including individual cells, creating an atmospheric and distinctive setting.

Additional attractions include craft vendors, food and drink stalls, live entertainment, and a popular graffiti show making a return. Visitors will enjoy live music, escape rooms, a licensed bar, a variety of traders, and great food throughout the event.

The convention features competitions judged on the main stage, where artists present their best work. Live tattooing is ongoing throughout the venue, alongside other scheduled entertainment and activities.

Tickets can be purchased online or at the door, although availability is limited. This event is adult-only, with teenagers aged 13 and above allowed only with adult supervision. Tattoos are performed exclusively on individuals aged 18 and over; ID is required.

Parking is recommended at Raven Meadows Car Park, SY1 1PL, approximately a 7-minute walk to the venue.

The majority of the site is accessible, though some traditional stairs between landings may present difficulties. Inquiries about accessibility can be directed to the event team prior to visiting.
