Iuri Waitzberg is a tattoo artist known for his exceptional skill and unique approach to tattoo art. With years of experience and a diverse range of styles, Iuri has built a reputation for creating tattoos that are not only visually stunning but also deeply meaningful to his clients. His work is more than just ink on skin; it is a reflection of personal stories, cultural symbols, and artistic expression.
Tattooing for Iuri Waitzberg, the artist we had the pleasure of meeting, has become not just a profession but a way to build unique connections through creativity. "Since childhood, I have been passionate about art, but it was tattooing that gave me the opportunity to create something permanent on a person's body," he shares.
His journey began with studying biology, where he mastered the basics of science and found inspiration in natural forms and structures. It was during this time that he first tried his hand at tattooing. In 2017, after deciding to leave his scientific career behind, Iuri began his training at a studio in São Paulo, immersing himself completely in the world of tattoos.
In the early stages of his career, Iuri was drawn to the geometric dotwork style. This technique required maximum precision and patience, but with each new project, he sought opportunities for growth. Later, he began incorporating elements of realism and fine lines, which allowed him to create more expressive and dynamic designs.
"I always strive for a balance between harmony and individuality, so that each tattoo reflects the personality of the client," he explains.
The philosophy of the artist is based on creating art that connects the person to their inner world. Each project reflects the story, symbolism, and emotions of the client.
"A tattoo is not just a drawing. It's an interaction, a process in which it's important to listen to and understand the person," he emphasizes.
Iuri draws his inspiration from a variety of sources. Nature, anatomy, and personal experiences are the main components that shape his approach. His background in biology has left its mark on his work, evident in the attention to form and detail. Clients and their stories also play a crucial role: every encounter becomes a new source of inspiration.
"Each tattoo is not just a drawing. It reflects a person's personality, their experiences, and dreams. For me, it’s important that the client feels the tattoo has become a part of them," he emphasizes.
In addition to this, Iuri constantly studies the work of artists from different fields. In his view, the limitations of one style can narrow one's perspective, so he strives to draw inspiration not only from tattoo culture but also from fine art.
Iuri Waitzberg places great emphasis on building connections with his clients, understanding how crucial this phase is for creating a unique tattoo. Each project begins with a detailed discussion, where the master strives to understand not only the client’s wishes but also the story behind them.
"For me, it’s important to know why the client wants this particular design and what emotions they associate with it. This allows me to create a piece that will be meaningful to them throughout their life," he underscores.
This approach helps not only to fulfill the client’s requests but also to incorporate elements of individuality into the design.
The creative philosophy of Iuri Waitzberg is built on the connection between art, emotions, and the individual. Each project is perceived as an opportunity to combine visual aesthetics and deep symbolism that is important to the client.
"Tattooing is always an exchange. The client brings their story, emotions, and I help express them through the artwork," he explains.
Nature motifs often appear in his works, reflecting his interest in biology and respect for natural harmony. This approach allows him to create pieces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also emotionally rich.
At the early stages of his career, Iuri Waitzberg actively participated in tattoo conventions. This was not only a way to promote himself but also an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the industry. Conventions helped him build confidence, assess the level of competition, and gain valuable experience in communicating with colleagues and clients in an intensive professional environment.
However, over time, his perspective on these events shifted. "After several years of attending conventions, I realized that their format no longer aligned with my goals. Today, my main focus is on satisfied clients and their genuine emotions," he explains. This focus on individual client work has become a hallmark of his professional approach.
After several years of working in top tattoo studios and collaborating with talented artists, in 2022, Iuri Waitzberg took a significant step in his career by opening his own private studio. This moment became a turning point, allowing him not only to focus on the development of his unique style but also to create a more comfortable environment for working with clients.
"Working in studios at the start of my career was a valuable experience. I learned a lot from my colleagues and discovered different approaches to creating tattoos. However, over time, I realized I needed more freedom for self-expression," says Iuri.
His own studio has become a space where Iuri has full control over the creative process and can dedicate maximum attention to each client.
One of the key stages in Iuri's career was receiving sponsorship support from a tattoo materials supplier.
"From the very beginning, they saw my potential and offered support, which played an important role in my development," Iuri explains. Sponsorship provides him with high-quality materials and equipment, enabling him to achieve maximum precision and longevity in his work.
"Good tools are the foundation of quality work. They help not only bring my ideas to life but also ensure comfort and safety for the clients," Iuri adds.
Social media has become an important channel for promoting Iuri's work and interacting with his audience.
"Thanks to social media, I can showcase my works, share the process of creating them, and communicate directly with clients. It gives me feedback and helps me understand what people like, as well as inspires me to keep going," Iuri notes. He believes that being present on social media not only helps expand his audience but also creates a sense of closeness with clients. This allows for building trust and creating a community united by a love for tattoo art.
Iuri sees his future not only in continuously improving his technique but also in searching for new forms of expression.
"My dream is to create an exhibition where my tattoos and paintings will be united by a common theme. This will allow me to show how the same idea can be expressed in different forms of art," Iuri shares.
His plans also include international collaboration with artists and participation in projects that will allow for experience exchange and broaden the boundaries of creativity.
"I want to leave a mark not only in the tattoo industry but also in art in general. Every project for me is an opportunity to tell a unique story," Iuri concludes.
