Fine lines, deep emotions: The Philosophy of Tattoo artist Lass

Lass is a 27-year-old tattoo artist from Kazakhstan who has been living and working in Hamburg, Germany, for three years. Her style is a symbiosis of refinement, femininity, and emotional depth. Inspired by nature, she creates botanical motifs that symbolize growth, resilience, and elegance. Her tattoos are a dialogue between art and the personal experiences of her clients.
I wanted to create art that not only beautifies but also empowers.

Lass specializes in delicate, feminine designs with fine lines and floral motifs. Her work helps clients feel more confident and harmonious. She believes that the process of getting a tattoo is very intimate and requires empathy and understanding.
Interestingly, floral motifs are predominantly chosen by my female clients, with only about 2% of my clientele being male.

Among her favorite themes are roses and peonies. These flowers allow her to refine intricate details, creating elegant and expressive compositions. Working with fine lines demands exceptional precision and a steady hand. For such tattoos, Lass uses the thinnest needles, often single ones, which not all artists are skilled at handling.
My preference for the thinnest needles allows me to achieve the delicate, fine lines that are the hallmark of my style.

The longevity of such tattoos directly depends on proper care. Lass recommends that clients regularly moisturize their skin and protect the tattoo from the sun, as these factors affect pigment retention. Over time, a touch-up may be needed to maintain the sharpness and expressiveness of the details.

The process of creating a custom design is a collaboration between the artist and the client. Lass first immerses herself in the idea the client wants to embody in the tattoo, ensuring the design fully captures their vision. She often sketches directly on the skin, which helps achieve a natural and organic integration with the body.
My clients see the final result only at the end, which adds an element of surprise and excitement.

Working in a multicultural environment gives Lass experience in dealing with different skin types. She carefully studies the specifics of each client and adapts her techniques, considering the skin's structure and reaction to pigment. While fine lines create an elegant effect, they are not suitable for everyone—some skin types do not retain intricate details well. Lass evaluates each case individually to select the optimal design and technique, ensuring the tattoo’s durability and quality.
I have many tattoos that I’m proud of, but as an artist, I often find myself critically assessing my work. It can take time to fall in love with a piece, as I need to step back and view it from a different angle. Each tattoo holds a special place in my heart, especially those that resonate deeply with my clients.

Lass often receives heartfelt feedback from clients, and these moments give her work a special meaning. Seeing how a tattoo becomes more than just a drawing on the skin is a source of inspiration for her. One of the most memorable moments was working on a floral tattoo in memory of a client’s grandmother. When she saw the final result, she was overwhelmed with emotion: "The tattoo perfectly captures the spirit of my mother." This moment reminded Lass why she loves her craft.

Lass always dreamed of creating a space where artists could be themselves. This vision led to the opening of her studio, Allskins, in Hamburg. Here, the key values are a personalized approach, creativity, and a welcoming atmosphere that allows clients to express themselves through tattoos.
I believe that a comfortable space enhances the tattooing experience for both the artist and the client.

The booking process at the studio is as convenient as possible—clients can contact her through the website or social media. Currently, bookings are open for summer and fall 2025, highlighting the high demand for her work. Although the waitlist can be long, Lass prioritizes quality, dedicating maximum attention and care to each client.
My ultimate goal is to create art that empowers individuals, fostering confidence and self-expression through every tattoo I create.

Lass’s creative work extends beyond tattooing. Recently, she organized an exhibition of her paintings in Hamburg, "EMOTIONS" The exhibition explored the complexity of human emotions through abstract art. In her works, Lass delved into themes of vulnerability, strength, and personal growth. Each painting was created with the intent to resonate with viewers, conveying her own experiences and revealing the invisible threads that connect people. Many visitors shared how the paintings spoke to their souls, evoking personal emotions. Lass was especially inspired by how art can unite people, creating a space for deep emotions and sincere communication.
Looking ahead, I hope to participate in tattoo conventions and collaborate with other talented artists. I aspire to continue growing as an artist and perhaps even make exhibition for my tattoo collection to inspire others.

For Lass, tattooing is more than just ink on the skin. It is a story, an emotion, a symbol of strength and beauty. Perhaps her next tattoo will tell your story.
